Dr. Lucas Chartier is an emergency physician at the University Health Network and North York General Hospital, in Toronto. He completed his medical school at McGill University, and subsequently his specialty training in Emergency Medicine at the University of Toronto. He completed a Master of Public Health with a focus on quality improvement and patient safety at the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Chartier is the Director of Quality and Innovation for the Emergency Department at the University Health Network, where he chairs the QI committee and oversees the work of 50 inter-professional healthcare providers working to improve the quality of care delivered to patients. He is also involved in the development and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate curricula in QI at the University of Toronto, is a member of the CAEP working group for Choosing Wisely Canada, advises Health Quality Ontario and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, and has published peer-reviewed articles of his QI work.
