Dr. Peter Vadas is an allergist/immunologist at St. Michael's Hospital, where he is chief of the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He has both a basic and clinical interest in the etiology and pathogenesis of anaphylaxis. Major research projects in his laboratory explore the role of platelet activating factor and PAF acetylhydrolase in fatal anaphylaxis. Dr. Vadas is founding president of the Anaphylaxis Foundation of Canada (now Anaphylaxis Canada) and past chair of the Anaphylaxis Committee of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, and the Section of Anaphylaxis and Adverse Reactions of the Canadian Society of Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology. He is currently Head of the Section of Allergy and Immunology of the Ontario Medical Association.
